Hartslief Décor Hire is almost one year old, and we have been loving every second of what we do. We really enjoy sharing in the excitement and doing our best to make each bride’s dream wedding a reality. After 7 years of creating beautiful weddings in Port Elizabeth, we decided to open our brand-new Bloemfontein Branch in September 2017.

What is the first thing to do when planning wedding décor?

Firstly, decide on a budget. It also really helps your décor coordinator if you have some pictures or examples of what you like. Book an appointment at the décor showroom and bring it along.

When would you say, brides should start their planning?

As soon as you have selected your venue. It’s never too early to book your décor, even if you might want to make a few changes or confirm numbers closer to the wedding date.

What is the most important thing to do?

It might be difficult for you to envision all your ideas working together. That’s why it is so important to do a trial table with all your décor and flower options, until it’s perfect. That way, your supplier will know exactly what you want on your wedding day.

With so many options and styles to choose from, where do you begin?

The bride and groom should allow their personality to guide them when choosing their décor and flowers. Don’t pick something just because it’s trendy, but rather something you will still love just at much in 10 years’ time. The décor should also complement the look and feel of the venue.

What is the best advice you can give a bride to be?

Trust your suppliers to do the hard work for you. If you are someone who would like to relax and enjoy the night before the wedding with your bridal party, we wouldn’t recommend attempting to setup your décor and flowers yourself.  It’s hard work and it is so important for a bride and groom to get enough rest before the big day.

Any advice on choosing flowers?

Let your florist/décor coordinator help you decide. They know what works, what’s in season and available for your wedding date.  Flowers can be expensive, so it’s important too choose wisely.

Choosing décor is really one of the fun items on your checklist, bring your bridal party along and share the excitement when them too!
